What's an Iron Butt?
I spent the last couple of weeks taking some SAP classes in Philly. I met Stephan Bolduc, a French Canadian from Laval, which is just North of Montreal. He said he had completed the Iron Butt Rally just this summer. Of course with his accent, I didn't really understand what he said, so I asked him to explain. It turns out that extreme comes in all shapes and sizes, not just for the young, but for the young at heart.

Entrants give tanks
An army robot contest will pit unmanned vechicles against eachother over a 250 mile off-road course. What will S.C.O.R.E. have to say? I can only imagine that a union for off-road racing drivers will be next.

I went to Amsterdam last weekend. It is an amazing city! I couldn't help but think that Walt Disney fashioned his parks after it. All roads lead to the Main train station, the city is defined by specific interests and geographic areas, these are seperated by canals and bridges. In the evening, you would look down a street or canal and see beautiful, well lit buildings framed by the avenue. Look at a map of Amsterdam and then look at The Magic Kingdom! It's the same place......I'm pretty sure.
The De Oude Kerk Amsterdam was a landmark for meeting up with the others in my party during our weekend stay.

SCHNACK - Letterboxing is an intriguing mix of treasure hunting, art, navigation, and exploring interesting, scenic, and sometimes remote places. It takes the ancient custom of placing a rock on a cairn upon reaching the summit of a mountain to an artform. It started when a gentleman simply left his calling card in a bottle by a remote pool on the moors of Dartmoor, in England. Today I'm off to check our Connecticut letterboxes after receiving a notice from a family that had trouble finding them last weekend.
