What is a Talar Dome Lesion?
Talar DomeThe ankle joint is composed of the bottom of the tibia (shin) bone and the top of the talus (ankle) bone. The top of the talus is dome-shaped and is completely covered with cartilage—a tough, rubbery tissue that enables the ankle to move smoothly. A talar dome lesion is an injury to the cartilage and underlying bone of the talus within the ankle joint. It is also called an osteochondral defect (OCD) or osteochondral lesion of the talus (OLT). “Osteo” means bone and “chondral” refers to cartilage.

Talar dome lesions are usually caused by an injury, such as an ankle sprain. If the cartilage doesn’t heal properly following the injury, it softens and begins to break off. Sometimes a broken piece of the damaged cartilage and bone will “float” in the ankle."

Katie accepted to Yale

I need to catch up on what's been going on...

Katie applied to Yale University and was accepted. Along with the acceptance came a full ride. Pretty impressive. I looks like she will defer for one or two semesters, stay at WCSU to get up to speed in Chemistry and Biology. She is switching her major to Bio-Medical Technology.

it's been a hard rain

 

it feels like it has been raining all week. Tuesday or Wednesday morning it was pouring...hard! As I left for work I discovered Katie had left her moonroof open in the Jetta. We have been attempting to dry it out inbetween showers.

Katie and her friends got together to buy this huge tent. They all gather together on a Friday nights and hang out...in the tent and then finally get to sleep around dawn. It goes up in about 1 hour. It takes longer to clean it out of all the stuff the next day before folding it up into its' handy 70 pound duffle bag (plus poles and hardware).

update: turns out that WCSU does not accredit the Disney College Program. Very disappointing news for Katie and Disney's loss.....

Katie has been accepted to the Disney College Program. There is much to work out, but if all goes well Katie will be spending this summer and her first Sophmore semester at Disney World.

more catching up...Thursday November 13th, 2008

Barb calls me from the hospital...Katie's been in an accident. A friend of her was driving. Greg Kahn lost control of his mother's car and landed in a tree. Thank God, no serious injuries...just bumps and bruises...but the car is probably a total loss. Katie also lost her phone during the accident. It was finally recovered from the car late Friday.

Katie and her friends gathered to celebrate their graduation last night. The rains and thunderstorms did arrive, but did little to dampen the spirits of all who attended.

SJC Class of 2012 orientation was today

Saint Joseph College and Katie completed an orientation of soon-to-be freshman or is that freshwoman today....it was an 8 hour day plus the travel. The college's plan for the day is to separate you and your child, or start the process. I saw Katie for the kick-off, Lunch and finally at these final photos before we walked to the car to go home. Ween the parents off of their kids, or visa-versa. The school suggested that this is only temporary...She'll be back after 4 years.

This is one of 4 orientations. SJC will have 215 freshman this year, a little bit larger class than is the norm (of 200).

Katie got registered for her classes and confirmed that T-Mobile now works at SJC since they announced a new cell tower in the area.
