CT tech group honors women of science

A Woman of Innovation - as published at Boehringer Ingelheim

Our company strives to be a leader in innovation, a mission that is not possible without contributions from our colleagues. On January 30, 2008, Dr. Sheenah Mische, director of translational sciences, received a 2008 Women of Innovation award for her work in community innovation and leadership from the Connecticut Technology Council (CTC).

This award recognizes women innovators, role models, and leaders who work as researchers, educators, managers or service providers in technology, science and engineering.

According to Sheenah, "It is always an honor to represent Boehringer Ingelheim (BI) but particularly so for something so close to my heart - community and science education. BI has provided me opportunities to contribute in this arena and for this I am very grateful."

Usha Patel nominated Sheenah for this award by for her work as an active volunteer in the community and for her contributions to several local science educational initiatives and programs. Sheenah was also highlighted in the Fall 2007 issue of Connect for her extensive volunteer efforts.

"We're proud of Sheenah's work and her continued commitment to innovation and excellence," said Paul Fonteyne, executive vice president of Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (BIPI) and sponsor of the company's Women's Leadership Initiative. "Sheenah's leadership is recognized by the BI team and the surrounding communities, and we are gratified that the Connecticut Technology Council has also recognized her exemplary achievements."

BIPI submitted a total of 17 nominations for the 2008 Women of Innovation awards. Six BI colleagues made the list of 55 finalists in CT. Out of eight award categories, BI had finalists in four categories.
