This is how may luggage arrived in New York (JFK) as I was returning from Petersburg, VA this week. The airline (jetblue) was kind enough to allow me to spend up to $60.00 on replacement. I've got 30 days to do it....
So I go shopping at Macy's and J.C.Penny's for a replacement suitcase. I like luggage. I usually will spend some time and money in picking a bag, mostly time. It like Travel Pro and the other big names but have never spent that much.
Anyway, I explained my situation to the Macy's salesman including I had only $60.00 to spend, and he couldn't offer me much. Best was some weird bronze colored 24 inch suiter for $80.00. As I strolled around the store looking at the nicer inventory....and he quietly mentions....
...."We sell all of our mis-matched inventory to T.J.Maxx".
The replacement bag cost me $52.99 (that includes the sales tax). It was purchased at T.J.Maxx. It turns out that MACY's does sells their overstock item to T.J.Maxx. There was a wall full of it. TravelPro, Wenger(Swiss army) , Atlantic, etc. Thanks to that salesman....I'm even.....
I did buy a little smaller bag...Think I'll stop checking the bag and start carring it on board.
Before and After......
