Two blue moons occurs once in a blue moon - Akron, OH - The Suburbanite

Two blue moons occurs once in a blue moon - Akron, OH - The Suburbanite: "Most people are familiar with the saying “once in a blue moon,” which is used to describe something that happens very infrequently. Akron residents will get to witness a real blue moon this year.

A blue moon occurs when there are two full moons in one month.

This rare occurrence happens only about seven times in 19 years.

Variations on local time around the world make the dates of the blue moon different, even though it occurs at the same moment. The first full moon in December occurred on Dec. 2. at 2:32 a.m. and the blue moon will occur on Dec. 31 at 2:14 p.m. Blue moons are more apt to happen during months with 31 days. According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, the last time a blue moon occurred was June 2007. The next blue moon that will occur after this year will be August 2012."
